BMG’s extensive range of machine tools has been carefully selected for dependable operation, flexibility, enhanced safety and extended service life.
Typical applications for these tools include manufacturing, food and beverage production, chemical and petrochemical, forestry, agriculture and mining.
“BMG’s Tools & Equipment division works closely with customers throughout Africa to source quality branded machine tools that meet exact requirements and also conform with stringent quality and safety specifications,” explains Jeremy Pieters, Business Unit Manager – Fasteners, Tools & Equipment division, BMG. “Our commitment to customers is to assist in optimising inventory investment and reduce production and maintenance costs, at the same time minimising downtime in every operation.”
BMG’s tools and equipment portfolio encompasses hand and power tools, cutting and drilling tools, lifting and rigging equipment, hydraulic tools and abrasives, as well as workshop and welding equipment and locks and lock-out systems.
Abrasives for metalworking comprise grinding wheels, cutting and sanding discs, sanding belts and carbide burrs, designed to eliminate rough edges safely and efficiently. Cutting discs are expendable tools used on angle grinders or stationary devices for cutting metal alloys, like steel, Stainless Steel and aluminium. According to BMG specialists, this method of cutting creates friction, which results in a high temperature at the point of cutting, which can lead to undesirable changes in the structure and colour of material. To prevent this, it is advisable to use a disc as thin as possible and to cut carefully, so the product doesn’t over-heat.
BMG’s range of air tools and accessories provides solutions for heavy-duty industrial applications and for the DIY enthusiast.
Pneumatic drills – which are lightweight and compact, with enhanced ergonomics – have been designed for continuous use in the most demanding industrial applications. This range of pneumatic drills – with high power-to-weight ratios – is available in pistol grip, inline and angle configurations, over a range of speeds, power and chuck sizes.
BMG’s pneumatic ratchet wrenches provide the power of an impact, with the reach of an angle wrench, also offering enhanced operator control and comfort. Pneumatic riveting tools ensure quick and efficient installation of pop-rivets. The jaws can be removed quickly for cleaning or when switching between different rivet sizes.
BMG’s impact wrenches cover a wide range of torques, for different applications – from small assembly tasks requiring a 1/4″ drive, to the toughest bolting tasks requiring a 3.1/2″ drive and 108 000 Nm.
The portfolio of air tools and accessories also comprises compressors, descalers, engravers, grinders and riveting tools.
Accessories designed to enhance performance of air tools include couplers, fitting nipples, hoses, swivel adaptors, chisels and moils.
BMG supplies a full range of cutting tools, designed for quick and efficient performance, with reduced energy consumption, faster penetration and less force. These tools comprise linear cutting tools, single-point cutting tools and broaches. Rotary cutting tools include drill bits, countersinks and counterbores, taps and dies, milling cutters, reamers, and cold cut saw blades.
Power tools used in conjunction with these cutters, include magnetic base-pedestal drills. BMG stocks models in M2 HSS, M42 Cobalt HSS, in both short and long configurations.
BMG drilling tools are suitable for a wide range of applications – hand-held or rig-based, wet or dry, for light or heavy-duty drilling. Drill bits are available in many sizes and shapes and can create different kinds of holes in many different materials. A comprehensive drill bit size chart is available from BMG, which lists metric and imperial sized drill bits, alongside the required screw tap. Drill Sleeves are used to adapt smaller morse taper shank tools, as well as larger machine spindles. The concentricity and taper angles are precisely controlled, which allows perfect locking and concentric movement to the tool.
BMG also supplies a range of quality end mills for industrial milling applications, like profile, tracer and face milling, as well as plunging. While a drill bit can only cut in the axial direction, a milling bit can generally cut in all directions, though some cannot cut axially.
Many different types of reamers are available for use as a hand tool or in a machine tool, such as a milling machine or drill press. Precision reamers are designed to enlarge the size of a previously formed hole by a small amount, but with a high degree of accuracy, to leave smooth sides. Non-precision reamers are used for more basic enlargement of holes or for removing burrs.
A full range of sockets and accessories for every machine tool requirement, includes sockets to suit a hexagon head bolt, or for an allen key cap screw. These components include male torx, allen keys, bi-hex and socket types, available in long series, impact and also metric and imperial sizing. BMG sockets are used to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts quickly and easily, while ensuring a long product life. When coupled to a quick-release ratchet, it allows for quick changing of sockets.
BMG offers a technical advisory and support service to ensure the correct machine tool is selected for each specific application. The company’s advanced tools are designed to meet the requirements of quality and safety critical installations, also ensuring the best total cost of ownership.
